We shot some cool senior portraits of Tiffiny in downtown Phoenix yesterday. Tiffiny goes to Cactus Shadows School now and will go going to the downtown ASU Campus next year. We looked for locations that were old and had great textures and colors and wanted to make the images look fun as possible. In two hours we shot in a dozen different spots with six outfit changes. I shoot portraits in any and all parts of the valley. The great spring time weather made it really easy to be walking and driving around downtown creating unique portraits in the late afternoon easy and comfortable too.

Fall is our favorite time of year to do portraits of children. The leaves change here pretty quick so it is a short window of time, but it’s possible to get some very un-Arizona looking images that make for beautiful  and artistic portrait photos. Plus, if the photo sessions are done around Halloween the portraits are ready to give as gifts and use for cards and the holidays.

We photographed the Moehn family last week in North Scottsdale at their parents residence. The house was great to shoot in as was the desert landscaping outside and around the house. It was a really nice day and desert up by Pinnacle Peak is beautiful for Scottsdale portrait photographers, creative portrait photographers, and creative portrait photographers. I had shot their wedding about five years ago and now they have a daughter. So, I photographed them and their siblings families along with the parents and then the entire group.

I shot the Ressler family last weekend at their home in Scottsdale. I brought a studio set up and we did both studio type images and outdoor location images all at one time at one location. We shot the entire family, then all three of the families, and then each of the smaller kids. With a couple outfit changes this is the best way to get the most out of a photo shoot. You are more likely to put more pictures up in your home to enjoy if they do not look like they were all done at the same time. As professional portrait photographers of their wedding also a couple years back, it is alway great to keep photographing people as their families grow. I love doing high end portrait photography and creating artistic portrait photos for families anywhere in the valley of the sun. 

I photographed Corbin and Lori Snyder’s family portraits at Freestone Park in Gilbert, Arizona last week. I had never done photography there before but it is a cool place with many areas to shoot. Predominantly being a portrait photographer in Scottsdale I also do family portraits in Arizona all year round but this is the best time to do them when the leaves are changing. 

It’s very common for couples who hired us to photograph their wedding to call us back a few years later to photograph their children. I photographed Andrew and Christina’s wedding a few years ago and recently they came back from Chicago and asked me to photograph their son Alex.  We always like to include studio and location photography when we create great images. We did some of the photography in the studio and some on location and the entire shoot took less than a couple hours. Fall is also the best time of the year to do this because the images can be used for holiday cards and as gifts for relatives. This summer I got out of the heat for a week and went to Pacific City, Oregon and stayed in a beach house with the family. The kids are at a great age – 4 to 10. Not a lot of sun but the daily temperature averaged at least 30 degrees cooler than Phoenix. It was a nice break at the beach with the family. The beach is a place to create an environmental family portrait.
